Mastering The Market

A scenario-based eLearning experience that is geared towards artists participating in local markets.

It immerses the learner in a real-world simulation where they set up an ideal booth for attracting customers and therefore increasing artwork sales.

At the start of the experience, the learner enters their name, crafting the experience to each individual learner.

The next slide uses audio and visual elements as well as simple animation to draw the learner into the experience.

Lana, a mentor character,  guides the learner throughout the eLearning experience.

Lana helps the learner when faced with deciding what collection of products would be most profitable to display in their booth at the market.

Project Overview

As the learner progresses through this scenario-based eLearning experience, they must make decisions about what branding materials to include and how to represent their business as an established entity. These choices are what lead them to different outcomes. The goal is to increase artwork sales by creating an ideal artist booth at the Creative Wares Community Market. This is achieved by successfully completing the four tasks on the Market Checklist: display artwork of various price points, create brand identity, set up easy payment processes, and provide accurate contact information.

Articulate Storyline 360 is the authoring tool used to develop this project.  The programming involved in its development showcases creative eLearning solutions through the use of various instructional design tools. These include the use of layers, states, variables, and triggers, to present the learner with small chunks of content at intentional moments in time.

The choose-your-own-adventure structure of scenario-based eLearning like Mastering The Market, allows for a gamified experience where the learning is more engaging because the learner is learning through doing in a low-risk environment.
